CH. 4 - Isabella's Bday

CH 4.

Isabella is angry. She doesn't know if she wants to answer Phineas' call. But, finally, she decides to take it, because… what else could be wrong? Maybe he has just remembered it's her birthday and he's calling to wish her a happy day (which was actually impossible, she thinks). But, however, she opens her phone and answers.

-…Hello?- Isabella says, trying to hide the evidence that she has been crying.
-Hi Isabella!- Phineas almost yells. He sounds really happy.
-…Hello Phineas. What do you want?- she says, rudely.
-…What happens, Isa?
-Nothing. Why are you asking?
-You haven't said 'Hi Phineas! What'cha doing?'- He looks really confused.
-That quote is a bit too old-fashioned, isn't it?
-Isabella, what the hell is up with you?
-And with you, Phineas? Where are you? Do you even know what day is today?
-Of course I do, heck! You haven't even let me talk! Your answer was so rude! Why are you angry with me?
-You should know better than me.
-No, I don't know. Listen, I don't know what's going on with you neither, so please, just please, forget the reason why you might be angry and say it.
-Say what?
-Say 'What'cha doing', damnit!
-Okay…- Isabella changes her angry voice, to sound amusing as she always does - Hi, Phineas… What'cha doing?- she rolls her eyes, but Phineas can't see her. He laughs, cheerfully.
-That's way better! Let me tell you what I'm doing: I'm inviting you to eat out with me. Do you want to, or do you still want to kill me?

What? Has she heard what she thinks she has heard? Phineas just invited her to eat out? He did? Oh but wait, he is with a girl. She decides to ask.

-But… your mom said you were eating with a girl…I don't wanna spoil your date.
-What? Isabella, if you're really saying that, you must be blinder than I thought.
-What?- Isabella seems annoyed.
-Isabella…- Phineas coughs. He's nervous - YOU are the girl I'm eating with. Or at least, the girl I'm expecting to be eating with, if you don't mind. Is it OK?

Isabella is speechless. Oh… how could she think such bad things about Phineas? He is as sweet as always! He hasn't said a thing about her birthday, but… he has given her the only gift she ever wanted: a date with him. The two of them, alone. Minutes are passing by, but she can't say a word yet.

-Isabella? Hello?- Phineas says. He's afraid she will say no.
-I'm here. Let me recover.
-Recover from what?
-Just wait!

Isabella takes a deep breath inside. She puts her thoughts in order and then manages to answer Phineas' question.

-It's more than OK. Where are we meeting?
-Cool! At Mr. Slushy's, in half an hour.
-Allright.
-Oh, and, Isabella…
-Yeah?
-I'm sorry you misunderstood my mom's words. You know that, if I was with some other girl, you would know.

Isabella smiles. She knows. Now, she regrets having had all that bad thoughts, she's angry with herself because she hated Phineas, just for a while. Now, she feels her love again, and it's stronger than it has ever been before.

-It's OK. And no, I don't want to kill you. Goodbye- she says, with a smile on her face.
-See you later.- Phineas says. He's smiling too. He hangs up the phone.
